"When traveling to Cusco, I really did not know what to expect or where to stay. I am so happy that we landed at this hotel. The building itself reminds me of a castle. The staff and the service was unmatched. Concierge was extremely helpful in setting up local tours, restaurant reservations and transportation. Lobby had all different types of teas available at all different times of the day. There's a spa on site in the restaurant is probably one of the best places to eat in Cusco. It is two blocks from the main square where the cathedral is located as well as a Starbucks. The hotel also had some local people making textiles in the courtyard and one of them even had a baby alpaca that you could pet and take pictures with. On a separate note, since I was doing a 4-day Inca trail hike to Machu Pichu, this hotel was accommodating by holding my luggage on site until I returned from the hike. Next time I am in Cusco, I will definitely be staying at this hotel. I cannot recommend it enough."

"The hotel itself is beautiful and the location is excellent, which makes this review even more disappointing to write. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not reflect the level of hospitality expected from a Marriott property. Throughout our stay, we repeatedly requested towels and they were still not delivered in a timely manner, forcing us to constantly follow up ourselves. Instead of feeling relaxed, we felt like we had to “babysit” basic services during the entire stay. It also became exhausting having to repeatedly explain our concerns to the front desk without seeing meaningful improvement, which made the vacation feel unnecessarily stressful. The restaurant experience was especially frustrating. On multiple occasions we had to stand around searching for the restaurant hostess just to be seated, and her attitude consistently felt dismissive and unfriendly. The waiter serving our table also appeared irritated when we politely mentioned that our drinks were cold. At one point, we even witnessed the bartender openly arguing with restaurant/reception staff due to poor communication, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere for guests. Eventually, we stopped wanting to go to the restaurant altogether because we did not want to deal with the attitude, poor service, and disappointing food quality anymore. The breakfast buffet was extremely disappointing and honestly not worth the cost. Much of the food was cold, hard, or lacked flavor entirely. The rice was hard, the eggs were cold, the cheese was dry and difficult to eat, the tea was cold, and the hot chocolate was overwhelmingly sweet. The juices tasted like boxed juice rather than fresh juice, and the coffee consistently tasted burnt and watery. The only consistently part of breakfast was the egg station. What was most disappointing is that we ultimately chose to go eat breakfast at local street markets because the food there was fresher, warmer, and significantly more flavorful than the hotel buffet. For a Marriott property in a destination as special as Cusco, this should not be the case. We expected a much higher level of hospitality, attention to detail, service coordination, and food quality. While the building itself is beautiful, the operational and service issues made the stay unnecessarily stressful."

"I wanted to take a moment to highlight the exceptional service provided by Cristian during my time at the JW Marriott El Convento Cusco. Cristian went above and beyond to ensure every aspect of my stay was seamless. His professionalism and genuine warmth are a perfect reflection of the high standards at this property. He was incredibly attentive, proactive in anticipating my needs, and with a helpful attitude that made me feel truly welcome. It is rare to encounter someone so dedicated to the guest experience. Cristian’s attention to detail added a special touch to my visit to Cusco, and he is undoubtedly an asset to the Marriott team. If you are staying at El Convento, you are in excellent hands with Cristian. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!"

"Amazing hotel literally around the corner from the Plaza de Armas in Cusco. The service is top notch (as most JW’s are), the rooms are so comfortable, and the breakfast spread is one of the best we’ve seen. Alfredo, our waiter in the restaurant was awesome - their drinks/dinner were great and easy after a long day of hiking!"
